OVERVIEW
Light, bent through
water and glass.
Caustica is an OFX effect in development for adding the luminous patterns created when light bends through water or glass. Its animated patterns evolve across the image, giving artists a way to explore underwater atmosphere, swimming-pool reflections, and stylized light treatments.
Choose a pool, ripple, or glass pattern, then shape its scale, orientation, flow, and softness. A guided projection plane helps place the pattern, while masks and feathered selections keep the treatment on chosen areas. Adjust color and intensity to fit the shot, from a subtle wash of moving light to a more pronounced graphic effect.
AT A GLANCE
Inside Caustica.
Control the projection
Adjust placement, scale, orientation, and receiving-plane geometry to compose the light within the frame.
Shape the motion
Tune flow, turbulence, and seed to change how the pattern develops over time.
Refine the finish
Balance softness, intensity, and color, then use masks and feathered selections to localize the result.
CREATIVE USES
