01 / INSTALL

Ready in Resolve.

macOS 12.0 or later. The tested host is DaVinci Resolve Studio 21.1 on Apple silicon. Intel Mac host testing, Windows and Linux releases, and other OFX hosts are still being qualified. Try the watermarked demo in your own workflow before purchasing.

1. Save your work and quit Resolve. Close any other OFX host before running the installer. If an earlier Halation build is installed, use support for the update path before continuing.
2. Open OcularHalation-1.0.0-macOS-r3.pkg. Follow Apple Installer and enter your Mac’s administrator password only in its local prompt. If macOS blocks the package or installation fails, stop and contact support; do not bypass the warning.
3. Reopen Resolve. On the Color page, choose a node, open Effects, and find Ocular Halation under Ocular Foundry / Film. Drag it onto the node.

The same installer supplies the demo and paid version. A purchase is not required to explore the controls. The demo watermark appears in rendered files as well as the viewer.

02 / YOUR FIRST LOOK

Begin with the highlights.

1. Choose a Starting point and click Apply. Then shape Amount, Size, Tail amount, Warmth and Highlight isolation. Bloom and Grain are separate creative controls.
2. Check the input color space. Auto uses supported host metadata. When Resolve provides no usable encoding, Auto falls back to Rec.709 / Gamma 2.4. For untagged log, HDR or another working space, choose the actual encoding entering the node or transform it in Resolve first.
3. Keep Processing on Auto to begin. Use cached playback when needed. Return View to Result before your final export; Mix is intentionally inactive in diagnostic views.

Use progressive footage. Starting points are creative interpretations, not calibrated film-stock profiles.

03 / ACTIVATE

Your look, without the mark.

A $59 USD perpetual license covers one user on up to two activated computers. After activation, the licensed version works offline indefinitely. No periodic internet check or automatic renewal is required.

1. Complete your purchase through Paddle. Keep your purchase key and receipt. Your license email is sent automatically after payment is verified; check your spam folder if it hasn’t arrived.
2. Copy This computer code. Open Halation’s License group in Resolve and copy that computer’s 64-character code.
3. Open the Halation activation page. Enter your purchase key and the computer code. Activate, then save the small .ocularlicense download somewhere you can find again.
4. Copy activation code from the page. Paste that signed code into Halation’s Activation field, then press Tab or click outside the field. The field clears while the plugin checks the code. Your purchase key and activation code are different; the purchase key belongs on the website.
5. Check a fresh frame. The paid status should appear and the watermark should disappear. Click Refresh license on other existing instances, or reopen the project. If the viewer shows an older watermarked frame, clear that clip’s render cache and render it again.

Keep purchase and activation codes private. The perpetual license has no time limit for the version purchased; future major upgrades are not automatically included. See the license terms.

04 / YOUR COMPUTERS

Two activations. One toolkit.

Repeat activation with the second computer’s own code. To move a slot, use Manage computers on the activation page and deactivate the old computer, then remove the local activation from that computer as well. An already-issued offline activation cannot be erased remotely.

A replacement computer or operating-system reinstall may need a new activation. If both slots are occupied or the old computer is no longer accessible, contact support before buying another license.
